Does Tweeting about the Oscars mean you’re a little bit ditsy? Does an obsession with perfect spelling make you a bit of a party pooper?
With over 3,000 participants ( 3,011 as of writing this) in our Twitter Big 5 research, those are the kind of questions that we’re now investigating (You can participate at www.bigfive.me) .
When you see someone Tweet, it’s not uncommon to build up a picture of what the person might be like. We’re seeking to investigate which of these observations are the right things to look at and which aren’t. To make this a more social experiment (since so many of you participated), we’d like your suggestions.
What do you think gives clues to someone’s personality?
While we’ve got plenty of ideas, we want to involve a much broader audience to suggest activities that we perhaps haven’t thought of. The following list should provide an idea of what we’re looking at (and why):
- Ratio of Friends and Followers (More/less friendly or agreeable)
- Average Tweets per day (More/less conscientious)
- Times mentioned in a Follow Friday #FF (More agreeable?)
- Number of celebrity accounts followed (Prefer the limelight?)
- More swear words ( Angrier, less agreeable?)
- Perfect spelling (More dull, boring?)
Over to you. What do you think gives clues to someone’s personality?
Please leave comments below or email us and we’ll include as many as possible in our research. A mystery prize will be available for the best suggestion(s).
Thank you.
